For more than 50 years BYU has fostered the development of high-quality performing groups in dance, vocal and instrumental music and theatre. Student talents are spotlighted in 18 music and dance theatre groups from the Department of Dance, the School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Media Arts. These groups seek to create worldwide goodwill through high standards of conduct, outstanding performances and educational outreach programs.
Since 1971, BYU performing groups have performed more than 13,600 shows in all 50 states and 100 countries before audiences totaling more than 12 million people. Radio and television broadcasts of their performances have reached billions.
In 2011, BYU a cappella group Vocal Point spent parts of the fall semester on the NBC show "The Sing Off," singing in front of millions of viewers and making it into the top five of the competition. Read more about Vocal Point's performances here.
